Mae Rucker

Beginner Web dev, Hardware enthusiast, and aspiring learner.

Summary

As a tech enthusiast, I am constantly pushing my own boundaries to enhance my skills and knowledge. I am driven by my commitment to contribute significantly to any team or organization I am part of, especially to not only do the things nobody wants to, but improve them. My self-motivation and passion for continuous learning keeps me knowledgeable of the latest advancements in technology as I find ways to integrate them into my own life.

I am a firm believer in the power of seamless integration and scalability, not just in technology, but in every aspect of life. I strive to create systems that work easily together, be it in the physical or digital world. I've been working to extend this philosophy to my personal development as well. I am currently honing my skills to become a developer, with which my goal is to improve existing projects that I am passionate about and create new ones myself.

While I acknowledge and really appreciate the precision offered by desktop applications, I see the use of tools like Electron and web apps as a testament to the web's potential in enhancing both the developer and user experience through simple multi-platform support. Factors like these partially fuel my decision to start learning programming as a web developer and eventually make more significant contributions to the tech community as I grow more skilled.

Projects

1. Ubuntu Personal Webserver

I built my own webserver from scratch using Ubuntu and Docker at https://maetrix.dev. It has a pretty nice looking dashboard that lets me monitor and manage various those applications/containers. I use it to selfhost my own digital services like filesyncing and streaming using tools like nextcloud and jellyfin, which helps reduce my reliance on big tech companies that don’t respect my privacy.

2. "ULTRA ULTRABOOK"

This is my beast of a laptop that I modded with some extreme hardware and software tweaks. Its a Dell precision m6800, that runs Arch Linux, with an intel i7-8100MQ CPU, 16gb of DDR3L RAM, and a Quadro p3200 MXM card that I soldered EEPROM to and flashed with a leaked engineering vBIOS. I also had to modify the heatsink to fit the new GPU using a dremel, as it was originally designed to only support pre-maxwell GPUs. Its an 8lb monster that can handle anything I throw at it.

3. "Greyjoy"

This is my desktop PC that I originally built when I was 13 years old, using a mix of new and used parts that I scavenged from thrift stores and ebay. It started with an i5-8600k CPU, a gtx 680, and 8GB DDR4 RAM, but I have upgraded it over the years to a gtx 1060 6GB, then to an rtx 3060, and 16GB of Corsair Dominator DDR4 RAM. It now functions as a server host and tor and monero node at home while I'm at Job Corps.

4. This website

This is one of the websites that I made to showcase my web development skills. Im learning the basics of html and css, and I plan to dive into javascript and its frameworks soon. I have some other websites in the works that I will add here when they are done.
